The Newtown Bridle Lands Association, Inc., will be offering a $500 scholarship â in memory of Linda Souza â to a high school senior graduating in 2006.
Requirements are that the student must be a current resident of Newtown or have a parent or guardian who is a current member of The Newtown Bridle Lands Association, Inc.; student must be a high school senior who will graduate from Newtown High School or The Ellis Clark Regional Agri-Science and Technical Center; student must have been accepted to a post high school program leading to a degree in Equine Science, Veterinary Science, or the Environmental Sciences including but not limited to agriculture, animal husbandry, ecological studies or forestry; and student must complete an application and submit an essay explaining why he or she is deserving of this award.
Information for the application â name; address; telephone number; mother and father (or guardian - indicating if any are members of the NBLA); list of organizations which applicant is or has been a member of; list of any awards or honors application has received; post-high school program of study; and the essay.
The applicant must complete the form and submit the accompanying essay to the scholarship committee on or before May 1. Following the decision by the committee, the scholarship will be presented at the recipientâs high school award ceremony.
