Independent Living Day is Saturday, April 29 — NYS  volunteers will span the town helping senior citizens in need of assistance. There are morning and afternoon shifts or you can work all day. This is a great opportunity for community service hours. If you would like to lend a hand call NYS

Parent Programs

Hope And Support meets on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. If you are a parent or guardian with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are welcome to attend this group.

Grandparents’ Group — “The Second Time Around: Raising Your Children’s Children” is a new support program for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. This is an ongoing group for which there is no fee.

Youth Programs

Super Sitters The next session of this babysitting program will be on Tuesdays, April 25, May 2, 9, 16 and 23, from 3:15 to 4:45 pm. The fee is $40, which includes all materials and a snack. Call NYS to register as this class tends to fill quickly.

NYCAAP meets on Wednesdays, 7 to 8 pm at the high school.

HSYAB will meet on Monday, April 10, in the NHS cafeteria.

SMAD will meet on Wednesday, April 12 and April 26, in the middle school cafeteria.

Children of Divorce will meet on Mondays, April 10 and 24, from 6 to 7 pm.

All programs take place at Newtown Youth Services, 10 Glen Road, unless noted. Call 270-4335 for additional information.
