Tails To Tales Program Visits Horse Guard

More than 100 school children from Newtown and Danbury, on March 30, got to meet with horses and troopers of the Horse Guard as part of the Tails To Tales program.

They visited the Horse Guard headquarters and received hands-on instruction for caring for a horse, and got a look into the roles of the Horse Guard troopers. Major Gordon Johnson modeled the colonial uniform, complete with ceremonial saber.

Tails to Tales is a grant program administered through Education Connection. Thanks to funding from the Connecticut Department of Education this after school science and reading enrichment program introduces animals and their caregivers to 113 students from Sandy Hook Elementary School and South Street School in Danbury. Students in grades 1-5 meet at Sandy Hook on Friday afternoons, free of charge.
