Difficult Genealogy Problems Solved, April 11

Professional researcher and Newtown Genealogy Club member Toni McKeen will be the guest speaker of the genealogy club at 7 pm on Wednesday, April 11, at C.H. Booth Library.

Ms McKeen’s topic for the evening will be “Cases That Made My Eyes Cross,” regarding difficult and unusual genealogical problems.

Toni McKeen is well known in the area as a teacher of multiple courses in genealogy at Founders’ Hall in Ridgefield. An avid traveler, she has explored Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Her special love, however, is Italy, where she has done extensive genealogical research on site.  She has been researching her own family tree for more than 25 years and uses her expertise in Photoshop to maintain a family website.

In addition to her teaching at Founders’ Hall, she gives lectures in Connecticut, New Jersey, Westchester County and Long Island, N.Y.

Nonmembers are always welcome at the lectures, which are free of charge and always include a question and answer session.

The club is open to anyone interested in genealogical research, and it supports the efforts of Booth Library and assists in the upkeep of the library’s genealogy room and extensive collection.

The club meets the second Wednesday of each month, from September to June at the library, 25 Main Street. For more information, find the club on Facebook, visit its website at rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ctgenc, or call Harlan Jessup at 203-426-3981.

“How To Find Relatives in the 1940 Census” will be the topic of the May 9 meeting, also presented by Toni McKeen.
