Stroke: Risk Factors And Prevention
A Lunch and Learn program on âStroke: Risk Factors and Preventionâ will be held Tuesday, April 17, from noon to 1:30 pm in the Lodge Room at Lockwood Lodge Assisted Living at Ashlar of Newtown.
Srinath Kadimi, MD, Associated Neurologists of Southern Connecticut in Fairfield and director for the Stroke Program at St Vincentâs Medical Center, Bridgeport, will provide important information to help individuals learn the warning signs and symptoms of a stroke and how to act quickly if a stroke is suspected. He will also outline risk factors and explain how lifestyle changes can reduce that risk.
Ashlar of Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road, is an affiliate of Masonicare, Connecticutâs leading not-for-profit provider of healthcare and retirement living.
Ashlar of Newtown sponsors the Lunch and Learn series, which provides the public with important and timely health and wellness information. There is no fee for the program, which includes a complimentary lunch served at noon, followed by the presentation at 12:30 pm.
Seating is limited, however, so if anyone planning to attend should call Yvonne Bachand at 364-3179 to make a reservation. Call backs will be make only if the seating limit is exceeded.
On the same day, The Ashlar of Newtown Nursing Department will sponsor a free blood pressure screening from 10 am. to noon in the Lockwood Lodge Wellness Center.

The screening will be conducted by a licensed nurse who will have free blood pressure information. Remember, you can have high blood pressure and still feel fine.
