Newtown Needs A Dog Park
Newtown Needs
A Dog Park
To the Editor:
As the owner of a very active 4-year-old beagle mix, I recently went in search of a fenced-in dog park in Connecticut. There are a few such dog parks in Connecticut, the closest one to Newtown that I could find was located in Ridgefield.
On a recent Saturday morning we loaded up the pooch and took a ride over to The Bark Park in Ridgefield. A great time was had by all, especially Murray the dog. He romped with about ten other dogs, all of them thoroughly enjoying themselves, while we enjoyed chatting with some friendly dog owners.
Bark Park has a water spigot and bowls for thirsty dogs, dog waste bags, garbage cans, benches, and plenty of tennis balls. Even though we are diligent about taking our dog for long walks every day, it was the first time that I actually saw my dog tired out!
I think that a dog park would be a great addition to Newtown and I would like to work to see that a Newtown dog park becomes a reality. I invite anyone who is interested in seeing a dog park in Newtown to contact me at CJCascia@aol.com. My hope is that if we are able to organize enough interested citizens, we can have our own dog park for dog owners and their four legged friends to enjoy!
Sincerely,
Carole Cascia
