DUI Charge

Police said they were dispatched to the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park at 55 Sugar Street about 9:35 pm on April 3 to check on a report of a suspicious person in the area.

During that investigation, while police Patrol Officer Gary Wheeler was parked in a police patrol car alongside the eastbound lane of Sugar Street, eastbound motorist Carole Peck, 53, of Woodbury struck the left side of the parked police car, police said.

Following an investigation, police charged Peck with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn.

Police said Wheeler went to Danbury Hospital to be checked for possible injuries as a precautionary measure. After posting $140 bail, police released Peck for an April 17 court appearance.

South Main MVA

About 5:40 pm April 4, motorist Gregg Matthews, 46, of 10 Megans Circle, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat northward on South Main Street, attempted to make a left turn onto Country Club Road, police said.

As Matthews was making the turn, the Volkswagen collided with a southbound 2001 Mitsubishi Galant sedan driven by Jamie Mitchell Furno, 42, of 9 Old Tavern Road, police said. Jamie Mitchell Furno, and Mitsubishi passenger Jenna Furno, age 2, were transported to Danbury Hospital for observation, police said.

Hook & Ladder firefighters went to the accident. Matthews received a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Rear-Ender

About 8:48 am April 4, southbound motorist Elvis Rodriques, 21, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic, was waiting at a red traffic signal on South Main Street, near Sand Hill Plaza, when he was struck from behind by southbound motorist Steve Esmeraldo, 24, of Monroe, who was driving a 1999 Honda Civic, police said.

That impact pushed the 2002 Honda forward into another unknown vehicle, which left the scene before police arrived.

There were no injuries. Police issued Esmeraldo a written warning for following too closely.

Warrant

On April 4, police arrested William Francisco, 34, of New Fairfield on a warrant, charging him with violation of probation.

Police said Francisco violated the terms of his probation stemming from a 2006 case of fourth-degree larceny. Francisco was arraigned on the violation of probation charge on April 4 in Danbury Superior Court.
