Fish Fry Gratitude
Fish Fry Gratitude
To the Editor:
The Lenten Season is concluding with our Easter celebration and all of its messages of rebirth and renewal. This is also the time when your Newtown Knights of Columbus thank you, the greater community of Newtown, for supporting our annual fish fry dinners. More important than the fact that we hit our goal for dinners sold, we again witnessed an outpouring of support from a patient town that allowed us to work through our first-night pangs and serve up a generous plate of fish and side orders. Our final two weeks concluded with efficiency and we hope you went home happy!
We enjoy looking out at the tables and seeing families and friends reconnect. That is as important as our fundraising.
We would like to thank the following groups for assisting us to make the event a success: Ed Moran from Bursco Signs in Danbury, Sippin Gas, Jay LaManna Contractors, Sal Cucco at Luna Rosa Restaurant, The News-Times and Sybil Blau, Stew Leonardâs Seafood Department, Suzette LaBlanc from Newtown Health District and Herb Rosenthal for his continued support. We especially thank our neighborhood Big Y â Roberto, Cindy and Melissa for working with us to deliver our wonderful food.
Live music was provided by Tom Novak for two nights and DJ Steven Chetcuti. Both of these men donated their talents and we hope they receive tenfold reward in return. They are blessed with incredible talent!
We are grateful to our pastor, Father Bob Weiss for permitting us to use the grand old hall for our event. He became an honorary fryer this year. Fatherâs Milan and Inserra both joined us as did our deacons and nuns. All of you contributed to our success.
On a personal note, this is our last year as chairmen. We look forward to improvements next year by the new team that has accepted the challenge; John Barry, Ron Kopcik, Jamie Redman, and Brian Liotta, they will take our fry to the next level, they will have our full support. We must thank Past Grand Knightâs Tom Chiaramonte for approving our first fry and Len Moritz for moving it forward and improving on it. This year our Grand Knight, John Moulder, helped us grow the event and approved necessary expenditures to assure our ability to keep up with the increased demand.
We said four years ago that if we kept our quality high and our prices low, gave people a full plate of fish, they would keep coming back â we kept our vow and have benefited from your support! Our goal remains to serve good food and foster deeper community ties. See you next year!
Sincerely,
Jim Tevnan
