SUNDAY, APRIL 29 â The Windy Hollow Hunt Club in Warwick, New York, will hold its spring Hunter Paces on Sunday, April 29, and Sunday, May 13, from 10 am to 1 pm. Fee is $40 per person ($25 for juniors). All paces will count towards year-end prizes and championship. Bring a tailgate or covered dish to share. SATURDAY, MAY 26 â The Millbrook Hunt Trail Ride will be held Saturday, May 26, at the showgrounds on Fraleigh Hill Road in Millbrook. There will be First Flight, Optional Jumping and Hilltopper groups â which all start at 10 am. Gourmet buffet lunch will be held at 12:30 pm. Fees are $40 for adults and $15 for juniors under 18. SATURDAY, JUNE 2 â The Goldenâs Bridge Hounds will be holding a Spring Ride and Luncheon on Saturday, June 2, at 9:30 am, at the Race Track on Baxter Road in North Salem, New York. Luncheon will be at 12 noon at Stony Creek Farm on Baxter Road. There will be jumping and non-jumping rides (hard hats required) and fees (which include lunch) are $25 for adults and $15 for juniors 14 and under. Call 1-914-669-5700 for further information.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 26 â The Old Chatham Hunt Club will hold a pre-season Hunter Pace on Sunday, August 26, from 9 am to 1 pm, at Highland Farm on Highland Road in Old Chatham, New York. There will be a beautiful eight-mile course with clearly-marked arrows and flags, more than 50 various cross country fences, and go-arounds. Teams of two or three riders are welcome (riding helmets are required and informal attire is okay). Current Coggins test is also required. SUNDAY, MAY 6 â The Woodbury FFA will hold a Benefit Horse Show on Sunday, May 6, starting at 8 am. There will be English and Western divisions, including an outside hunt course and gymkhana. The show will help to fund programs, trips and educational materials for the Woodbury FFA. A certificate of current (within 12 months) rabies vaccine and proof of negative Coggins is required and must be shown at the gate and presented to the secretary before receiving number. SUNDAY, MAY 20 â The 2001 4-H Spring Benefit Horse Show will be held Sunday, May 20, at the Cooperative Extension System grounds on Route 6 (Stony Hill Road) in Bethel. The popular open schooling show will feature divisions in English Equitation, Hunt Seat, Western, and Trail. Most classes will be pinned through sixth place, with the first-place winner also receiving a trophy. Divisions are awarded champion and reserve ribbons. Several year-end awards are again being offered. The high-point horse and rider combination from both the Spring Benefit and the Fall Nutmeg shows will receive year-end awards in the following divisions: Open Beginner Hunter (Clearview Farms of Sandy Hook); the Kentucky Hunter Classic (All the Kingâs Horses of Ridgefield); and Junior Western (Happy Trails Farm of Danbury). All other Western divisions high-point award winners will also receive a special plaque. Proof of current rabies vaccinations (within one year) will be checked at the gate for each animal. Refreshments will be available on the grounds as 4-Hâers will be offering âhorse-sideâ service for food and drink. Bit Oâ Tack will be offering horse products for sale. SUNDAY, JUNE 17 â The 72nd annual Ox Ridge Charity Horse Show (benefiting the Center for Hope) will be held Monday, June 11, through Sunday, June 17, at the Ox Ridge Hunt Club in Darien. The show will feature the $35,000 Ox Ridge Grand Prix, the $10,000 Ox Ridge Amateur Owner-Junior Jumper Prix, the $5,000 CL Adams Co. Futures Class, the $2,500 Reuters Junior Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic, the $2,500 Howard Johnson of Darien Pony Hunter Classic, the Millerâs Harness Company/Ox Ridge Equitation Championship, the Marshall & Sterling Childrenâs and Adult League, the Marshall & Sterling $2,500 Adult Jumper Prix, the Marshall & Sterling $1,500 Childrenâs Jumper Prix and much, much more. SATURDAY, JUNE 9 â The Greenwich Kennel Club (GKC) will hold its 69th annual American Kennel Club all-breed dog show and obedience trial on Saturday, June 9, on the grounds of Purchase College, SUNY, in Purchase, New York. Some 2,400 dogs will compete â with conformation and obedience judging beginning at 8:30 am; group competition at 3:30 pm; and then Best in Show award and the High in Trial awards following. Besides the competitions, dog enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet 10 prominent authors of both canine and general interest boths â such as Liz Smith, author of Natural Blonde; Janine Adams, author of You Can Talk To Your Animals; and Dash Dibra, author of Dog Speak. Greenwich Kennel Club is one of the oldest all-breed dog clubs in the tri-state area. Admission to the show is $5 per vehicle. For further information, call chairperson Joy S.
