Purse Snatchings At The Plaza

Police are investigating two purse snatchings that happened Tuesday night at Sand Hill Plaza on South Main Street.

Police believe the man who stole the purses is the same person responsible for a series of recent purse snatchings in Danbury.

Police said the man stole a purse, which had been left in a shopping cart by a shopper in Super Stop & Shop. When the purse was found, it was missing a cellular telephone, police said.

At TJ Maxx, the man stole a purse from a woman shopper and then ran out of the store with it. The purse was later found in the parking lot.

Neither shopper was injured in the thefts, police said.

Police described the robber as an 18- to 20-year-old white male, who is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with brown hair.

Police said they have a suspect in the case and expect to make an arrest.
