Sandy Hook Pair Arrested On Robbery Charges

Police said they arrested two Sandy Hook men on first-degree robbery charges, among other offenses, on the night of April 2, following an incident in the Capitol Drive area.

At about 8 pm, police were dispatched to the area of Capitol Drive for a report of a possible robbery there.

Police allege that Kirk Andersen, 25, of 55 Capitol Drive, and George Burch, 21, of 41 Engleside Terrace, used threatening force to take money and a digital music player from some youths under age 16 in that area.

Police said they found the two men at 55 Capitol Drive. While being arrested, Andersen resisted arrest and also kicked out the rear window of a police car, according to police.

Police arrested Andersen on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, interfering with police, second-degree criminal mischief, breach of peace, and risk of injury to a minor.

Burch was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, breach of peace, and risk of injury to a minor, police report.

Each of the two men were held on $5,000 bail for April 3 appearances in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
