Zone Change Opposed
Zone Change Opposed
To the Editor:
We are neighbors within 500 feet of the proposed Curi Dauti application for a zone change and plans for 16 âAffordable Housingâ condos, this being off Church Hill Road west of Dayton Street. I am reminding the P&Z Commission that in 1998, P&Z denied Walnut Tree Hill Village from making an entrance off Church Hill road.
Although one reason was the topography of the area, and the wetlands, the main reason was the traffic that would be turning at a blind curve of Church Hill Road.
In my letter to The Bee dated May 8, 1998, I wrote: âFrom Sandy Hook to the Flagpole, 1½ miles away, we now have five stop lights. With turning traffic at Walnut Tree Road, will this be the next stop light? How about seven, if the new âvillageâ brings about accidents on their planned tie-in road at the bend in Church Hill Road.â I also quote from the same letter: âSandy Hook has been improving in the 50 years we have lived on Church Hill Road. Let us not backslide by over-development. If the plans go though, I picture the hillside looking like the one you see driving west from Danbury on Interstate 84, off to the north on the hillside. Isnât that lovely?â
A copy of this letter along with site pictures and two of my previous letters, March 25, 1998 and May 8, 1998, are going by mail to the P&Z Commission. The Curi Dauti application should be turned down.
