SCAN To Host Styler Program
SCAN To Host Styler Program
On Wednesday, April 9, at 7:30 pm, The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a demonstration by the artist Anda Styler. She will be painting a landscape in oil, after she has established her composition and color in acrylic.
The meeting and program is open to the public and will be held in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). Admission is free.
A resident of Sherman, Ms Stylerâs playful and spontaneous approach shows her strong sense of color and her skills in composition and design. Ms Styler received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Parsons School of Design. She has won many awards and has exhibited her work in numerous group and one-person shows.
She currently has a show at Beaux Arts Gallery in Woodbury. In November of 1996, she was one of four women artists whose work was shown at the open house for Connecticut Commission of Women.
Ms Stylerâs work has been included in many publications, and she is a multiple award winner.
SCAN also has Anda Styler scheduled to lead an all-day workshop on Saturday, May 17, at the meeting house. Participants do not need to be members of SCAN to participate. Cost is $45. For more information on the workshop or the demonstration call Ruth Newquist at 426-6654 or Nancy Warwick at 746-9100.Â
