Program on Smallpox Cemeteries

FARMINGTON –– The Connecticut Society of Genealogists will host a program on smallpox and smallpox cemeteries on Saturday, April 12, at the Farmington Senior Center.

Dr Charles Leach, retired cardiologist, will address the historical and medical aspects of smallpox. Dr Ralph Arcari of the University of Connecticut Health Center will talk about the history of medicine, and Tom Howard will speak about smallpox cemeteries.

The program will include information about the “pest house” in Farmington. There also will be sources to help with genealogical research. The Farmington Senior Center is located at 321 New Britain Avenue in Unionville. For more information, call the Connecticut Society of Genealogists at 860-569-0002.
