Newcomers Program On âManaging Parent Stressâ
Newtown Newcomers is sponsoring a special program on âManaging Parent Stressâ on Friday, April 11, beginning at 10 am. The event will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).

The program will be presented by Judy Gibneyd, RN. The supervisor of the maternal child health department of Danbury Visiting Nurse Association, Ms Gibneyd has had extensive training in working with families with young children.
Topics to be covered will include âHow To Put Yourself First Without Guilt,â âDeveloping Good Communication Skills with Your Partner,â and âHow To Ask For Help.â Her program is expected to last about 45 minutes, with time for questions and answers.
Members of Newtown Newcomers will also be on hand Friday morning to answer questions about the club, which offers friendship and support to new families in town as well as current residents through activities including recipe exchanges, dining out groups, couplesâ socials, community service, children and adult play groups, crafts, book clubs, and tot tours.
New and perspective members are encouraged to attend the clubâs monthly coffee socials, usually held on the first Tuesday of each month. The clubâs motto is, âYou donât have to be new in Newtown.â Current presidents are Judy Loose and Mandy Tolson.
