Edward T.   Urban, Jr

Edward T. Urban, Jr, formerly of Newtown, died March 18 in Kansas City, Kan. He was born on August 15, 1943, son of Helen Theresa Urban of Newtown and the late Edward Theodore Urban, Sr. He was born in Bridgeport, but grew up in Newtown.

He was a teacher for the Kansas City (Mo.) School District, Shawnee Mission Christian School, and Kinder Care in addition to teaching water safety and swimming. He was active in Awanas, Special Olympics, and Adults with Developmental Disabilities. He was a longstanding member of the Monorailers Square Dance Club and an avid hunter and fisherman, but to him his greatest accomplishment was his family.

His family was very important to him. He spent many hours attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, holiday get-togethers, family campouts, and grandparent tea parties. He bragged on his six children and 17 grandchildren any chance he could. He was proud of his family and loved them all.

In addition to his mother, he leaves two brothers, Stanley Urban of Newtown and James Urban of Bridgewater; three sisters, Barbara Massey of Norristown, Penn., Helen Urban of Manneheim, Penn., and Susan Elliott of Bethel; children, Billi Joanna Scobee of Thomson, Ill., Samantha Walton of Shawnee, Kan., Annamarie Young of Kansas City, Kan., Melissa Wright of Grain Valley, Mo., Edward Urban III of Kansas City, Kan., and Theodore Urban of Fort Worth, Tex.; and 17 grandchildren.

He trusted Jesus as his personal Savior so death is not victorious. His family will see him again and enjoy his company forever in the presence of their Lord.

We will miss you son, brother, dad, granddad.

Sympathy cards may be sent to Helen Urban, 150B Hanover Road, Newtown, CT 06470.

A memorial service is planned at St Rose of Lima Church. The date has not been set.
