Fairfield Hills’ Propensity For Density

To the Editor:

I did a limited analysis of all the commercial and institutional properties located on Church Hill Road from Main Street to I-84, including Edmond Road, Commerce Road, and Queen Street. It turns out that there’s about one million, two hundred thousand square feet of space located on 227 acres of land. It is interesting that a similar amount of space is available at Fairfield Hills located on the 32 acre campus.

I hope that the various committees studying the reuse of FFH consider the effects that a density of seven times the current density in our commercial district will have on FFH.

Also, one must consider that Church Hill Road has been built up over a period of 50 years. It is hard to imagine that FFH can be redeveloped in just a few years, and have that amount of space be absorbed.

Yours truly,

Gary Tannenbaum
