Pick It Up, Throw It Away!
To the Editor:
As we’re all promoting public health by staying home, many of us have taken to exploring green spaces and the outdoors near our neighborhoods. I have also been utilizing these wonderful spaces and I have continued to enjoy walks and runs along town roads, as well. As I’ve been journeying more slowly along the roads, I’ve observed that there is a fair amount of trash visible on roadsides, and once you start to notice trash, it becomes hard to ignore.
In this time of many competing demands, I am mentioning my observation here to share that the simple act of spending a few hours a week picking up trash in the neighborhood has been cathartic for me, an easy way to see a positive impact I can have on the world right now. Perhaps this could do the same for you.
Sincerely,
