Occupation: I am a manager at Club Newfit on Commerce Road. It’s a good fit, since I am a people-person. I enjoy the high-energy environment of the club. Prior to this, I was a health and long-term care underwriting and administrative manager. I have also worked as a medical assistant for several doctors.

Family: I am married to Jim, and we have one grown daughter, Ellen.

Pets: We have three dogs. Molly, a golden retriever, is 5 years old; Timmy, a golden retriever/poodle mix is 4; and we have a cockapoo puppy, Mickey, who is 1 year old. They are great dogs — smart, funny, and there is always a lot of activity at our house.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We have lived her since 1987. I’m from the Bridgeport area and Jim and I have lived in Connecticut our whole lives.

What do you like to do in your free time? I am very involved in St Rose. Jim and I have been extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion for over ten years. In addition, we conduct a prayer service at Lockwood Lodge on Sunday afternoons and do room visits for those residents of Lockwood and Ashlar who are not able to attend the service. We are members of the St Rose Social Concerns Committee. I am the coordinator for our food and clothing drives. I find this very rewarding. I am also volunteer captain and parish donation co-captain for the carnival at St Rose.

Do you have a favorite book? I don’t have a lot of time for reading right now. I am reading a book a friend of mine gave me for Christmas, Cesar’s Way, by dog trainer Cesar Millan. My friend and I both have puppies and we are trying to get additional training tips.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? My husband and I love to camp. We like Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor area in Maine. We also enjoy Cape Cod, around Sandwich. We have relatives that live in that area and it’s great to walk the dogs, camp, go to good restaurants, and relax.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The people. I am amazed how generous and caring the Newtown community can be, even in bad economic times. They totally support our food and clothing drives at St Rose and at Club Newfit.

Do you have a hero? I would say Monsignor Bob Weiss. He’s there for everyone and he is just amazing. He always knows the right thing to say to everyone.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Treat others as you would like to be treated and take each day one day at a time. Always try to have a positive attitude.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I like to watch TV once in a while, and I like to watch Desperate Housewives, believe it or not. I like ER and Grey’s Anatomy, too.
