Head, Neck Cancer In Nonsmokers, Too

Stratford — St Vincent’s Medical Center is sponsoring a free talk open to the general public entitled “Head and Neck Cancer — In Nonsmokers, too” as a part of its 2009 Spring Listen & Learn Lecture Series.

The talk will take place Tuesday, April 7, from 6 to 7 pm, at Oronoque Country Club, 385 Oronoque Lane.

The featured speaker will be Douglas A. Ross, MD, who will explain why smokers are not the only ones at risk for head and neck cancer. He will also discuss surgery and treatment options for patients.

Dr Ross, chairperson of the department of surgery at St Vincent’s Medical Center, is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology. Prior to coming to St Vincent’s, Dr Ross was professor of surgery at Yale University’s School of Medicine.

A fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Dr Ross is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Rhinologic Society, the Sigma Xi Honorary Research Society, the American College of Physician Executives and a number of other professional organizations.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation, and light refreshments will be provided.
