Good Sweaty Fun

To the Editor:

In light of the recent economic downturn and seeing many local businesses struggling or going out of business, I’d like to sing the praises of our newly opened Newtown Youth Academy. Last Sunday my 10-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter had their birthday party at the NYA. I wasn’t sure what to expect, with so many events going on simultaneously and NYA turf/court time in hot demand.

The party exceeded all my expectations by a mile. While the girls were on the inflatable obstacle course, the boys were engaged in a lively game of dodge ball. After a while they switched and the boys did the obstacle course while the girls played dodge ball. It was magnificent, controlled chaos. The kids were running wild and having a blast, all safely contained within court #2 and supervised by four great helpers. No frills, no nonsense, just good sweaty fun.

Thanks to Kim, Jordyn, Kyle and John for making the party so fun for the kids, and so easy for the parents. And a special thanks to Coach Frangione for taking care of every last detail. The only thing I had to do was show up with the cake...oh, and sneak in one quick game of dodge ball.
