City Directories:
A Treasure Trove For Genealogists
Toni McKeen of Ridgefield will be the featured speaker for Newtown Genealogy Club when the group hosts its next meeting on Wednesday, April 8, at 7 pm, in the C.H. Booth Library.
A professional genealogist, Ms McKeen has been researching her huge Italian and Irish families for the past 23 years. She teaches several levels of genealogy at Founders Hall in Ridgefield.
She has previously given lectures to Newtown Genealogy Club, as well as to the genealogical societies of Greenwich, Tuckahoe, Dobbs Ferry and Long Island. Ms McKeen has spent considerable time in Italy in search of original documents for her Italian relatives.
For her April program in Newtown, Ms McKeen will speak about âCity Directories,â which have solved several problems for her. She would like to show others how to use directories to unlock the treasure trove of information that they contain.
The Newtown Genealogy Club meets at 7 pm in the Board Room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on the second Wednesday of each month, September until June.
All interested visitors are warmly welcome to attend. For further information, call Harlan Jessup at 270-7887.
