These programs are free of charge; limit 10 students per class - grades 6, 7 and 8.

4-H: Wednesdays, 4-5:30 pm. Harvest your own flowers and vegetables in a garden plot you design yourself! Help us build a Butterfly Plant Nursery, a Childrenâs Theme Garden, and a Chicken and Rabbit Garden. Plant a row for the hungry in our garden and bring your pet to our pet show. We meet at NYS, so come and join us.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
2nd Annual Independent Living Day, Saturday, May 5 â Looking for adult and student volunteers to go to senior citizensâ homes and do odd jobs which assist them in living âindependently.â
Two different time shifts. Breakfast and lunch will be served to volunteer crews. Entire day runs from 9 am to 3 pm. Please call NYS to volunteer your time for a very worthwhile cause â 270-4335.
PROGRAMS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
âCops and Docsâ â Presented by Officer Gladys Pisani, NPD; Barbara Reilly, RN; and Joyce LaForte, RN â Wednesday, April 11 â 5:30 pm at Newtown Youth Services. This is a national alternative violence prevention program presented by the police and medical professionals. Purpose: to help high school students to become more aware and learn effective ways to protect themselves and their friends. Please RSVP to NYS at 270-4335.
ACTS NEEDED â NYCAAP/HS YAB Talent Show for students AND teachers! To be held on Wednesday, April 25 â 7 pm, Newtown High School. All acts MUST schedule an audition time. Slots are available only through the week of April 9. Please call NYS for to schedule your audition time. Monies raised will be used to benefit AIDS Service Projects and the YAB Scholarship Fund.
YOUTH GROUP MEETINGS
THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (HS YAB) â Will meet on Monday, April 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD (MS YAB) ÂâWill meet - date to be announced - about Independent Living Day which is Saturday, May 5th.
NYCAAP will meet on Tuesday, April 10. Meeting time is 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
