Hosted by Robert Aubry Davis, the program addresses age-old questions about the end of the world and Christ’s Second Coming: Would the world end in the year 1000 or in 1033, the presumed millennium of the Crucifixion? Would the end arrive on New Year’s at midnight or, in fact, at dawn on Easter Day?

A Mass for the End of Time takes listeners from the prophecies of the Sibyls, woman mystics from the Roman Era who proclaimed the coming of the Last Judgement, to a Christian mass reflecting on the Resurrection and Ascension of Christ, and, finally, to the revelation of St John on Patmos as described in the New Testament.

Susan Hellauer, a  musicologist and Anonymous 4 member, serves as the listener’s guide on a religious journey to a time when the uncertainty in the Christian world was matched only by the mystical intensity of its sacred music.
