Leonard Leventhal

Leonard Leventhal, 92, of Trumbull died March 29. He was the devoted and loving husband of 62 years to Adele Platzek Leventhal. He was born in New Haven, son of the late Faye and Robert Leventhal.

His four daughters, Lauren Miller of Newtown, Cheryl Elliot of Monroe, Debbie Leventhal of Trumbull, and Diane Shank of St Louis, Mo; his eight grandchildren, Shana Elliot, Jessica Elliot, Sam Miller, Will Miller, Emily Shank, Alyssa Shank, Greg Shank, and Alana Leventhal; his sons-in-law, Arthur Miller and Gary Shank; his brother-in-law, Herbert Rosenberg; his sister-in-law, Ethel Pennell; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins survive him.

His son-in-law Jon Elliot predeceased him.

Mr Leventhal graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven. He became a self-taught businessman; he owned and operated Country Manor, a successful Ethan Allen furniture store in Branford. He also attended classes at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

Through the years, Mr Leventhal enjoyed and excelled in many sports including golf, swimming, and bowling. He rooted for UConn basketball and went to the NCAA Final Four a couple of times. He loved vacationing at Cape Cod, Mass., every year with his family. He was quick to make friends everywhere he went due to his warm and sociable nature.

The funeral will be on Monday, April 2, at 11 am, at Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at B'nai Torah Cemetery, Reid Street, Fairfield.
