Women’s League Will Welcome Spring With Gracious Home & Garden Show This Weekend

WESTON — More than 50 artisans and collectors will be on hand with decorative items for the home and garden at this year’s Gracious Home & Garden Show, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 3-4. Returning for its eighth year as Weston Women’s League (WWL) spring fundraiser, the Gracious Home & Garden Show brings together a wide variety of experts under one roof to help turn a house into a home with large and small items of distinction.

The Gracious Home & Garden Show will run Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at Weston High School. For those two days, the high school’s gymnasium will be transformed into a dramatic showcase for the home and garden.

The Garden Cafe will be serving breakfast, lunch and tempting baked treats throughout the day. For the first time this year, the women’s league will be serving fresh salads, hand-tossed to order. There will also be musicians performing at different times throughout the weekend.

“We have a terrific variety of artisans and collectors within the house and garden category,” says vendor chairperson Julie Beck, “with the vast majority being smaller vendors whose wares are not available at any retail location. Our shoppers will be surprised and excited by the creative, new items available this year to fit any budget.”

Available at the show will be hand-painted furniture, glassware, vintage bedding, wooden bowls, antiques, paintings, quilts, vintage posters, teak furniture and decorative iron pieces.

Among this year’s featured artisans and collectors are Amy Z (table linens, throws and decorative accessories), Designing Women (English accessories for the home and garden), Everlasting by Diana (dried floral arrangements and sconces), Forget-Me-Nots (vintage English tableware and china), Simply FolkArt (decorative painted items), Kirkwood Quilts (fine vintage quilts), Lakes Lampshades (vintage fabric lampshades), Owl’s Owls Gardens (cast iron benches, seats and planters), Pauline Wexler (vintage pillows), and The Studio at East River Road (rustic wooden garden furniture).

Proceeds from this year’s Gracious Home & Garden Show will benefit CLASP Homes, Inc. of Westport, Dress for Success’ Mid-Fairfield County, Elderhouse, Inc. of Norwalk, Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Norwalk Emergency Shelter, Westport-based Parents as Teachers, and STAR Inc. of Norwalk.

For the first time this year, a number of local artists will be displaying their paintings. A portion of the profits from the sale of the artwork will go directly to the beneficiaries of Gracious Home & Garden Show.

Admission to the Gracious Home & Garden Show is $6 in advance or $7 at the door. Children ages 12 and under are free.

Weston High School is off the Merritt Parkway at Exit 42. Travel five miles north on Route 57, then take a right onto School Road. Call 203-227-6127 for additional show information.
