Southbury â Passover will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, at 6 pm at a Second Night Potluck Seder led by Rabbi Eric Polokoff at Bânai Israel Temple along with Bânai Israel musicians Linda Goodman and Dennis Guillaume.
In addition to a kosher for Passover potluck dish, a $10 donation per family covers the cost of traditional and symbolic Passover fare: hard boiled eggs, gefilte fish, matzo ball soup, charoset, and maror. RSVP to the Temple office at 267-3394.
On Wednesday, April 7, 5:30 to 7 pm, Southbury Training School is the site of a special Third Night Passover Seder led by Jewish Chaplain Ron Herrmann. Last yearâs participants numbered 120 with all of the ritual foods donated to the school by Bânai Israel congregants. For more information contact Ron Herrmann at 264-0358
On Friday April 9, at 7:30 pm Bânai Israel will host guest speaker Levana Polate as a part of Sabbath evening worship services. Ms Polate is a Hebrew professor at Trinity College in Hartford and served as a Jewish educator for the past Hebrew high school program, Tichon. In the spirit of Passover, Levana Polate will share and discuss poetry about Jerusalem from poets Jehuda Halevi, Yehuda Amichai and possibly some of her own.
