Open Burning Season Extended
Open Burning Season Extended
Due to favorable ground conditions, the local open burning season is being extended for one month by Fire Marshal Bill Halstead.
The open burning season, which started last November 1, was slated to conclude April 1. But because ground conditions are relatively wet, the season will be extended until May 1, according to the fire marshal.
Open burning is allowed under controlled conditions, provided that permits are obtained before any open burning is done. Permits are issued by the town fire marshalâs office at Canaan House at Fairfield Hills.
The permit fee is $5. Permit holders are provided with a list of rules they must follow. The office is open on weekdays during business hours. The telephone number is 270-4370.
