Many Made NYS Dinner Dance A Success

To the Editor:

On behalf of Newtown Youth Services, we would like to thank everyone who made our recent Dinner Dance and Auction such a memorable evening and successful fundraiser. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 25 years of service to the community.

A huge thank you to Bob Tendler and his staff for making the evening so wonderful. We would not be able to do it without Bob. For the last five years, Bob has not only organized this event and solicited helpers and donations, but he also does a great job as our master of ceremonies and auctioneer along with Richard Coopersmith. Bob, we can’t thank you enough.

We would also like to thank the Fireside Inn for hosting the evening, Claudia Coopersmith and Linda Pickwick for creating the beautiful decorations, with help from Hollandia Nursery. Thank you Cyndi De Marco and Cheryl Barbour for once again doing such a fabulous job displaying the auction items.

The evening began with Erin and Shannon Hayes showing us all how Irish dancing is really done- what a performance! The Newtown High School Drama Club then brought us to our feet with a medley of songs from their upcoming Les Miserables production.  Jonathan Aragones and Jim Loring did a great job on the Newtown Youth Services slide show.

We are especially grateful to our event sponsors: Newtown Savings Bank, Attorney Michael Nahoum, Attorney Anne Ragusa, Union Savings Bank, Dr Richard Coopersmith, CTX Mortgage, Dr Bryson Filbert, Dr John Dudley, Dr Deidre Condon, J.P. McGuire Associates, Tim Conlon Company, Dr Jeffrey Friedman, Kevin’s Community Center, Attorney Celia Barnum, Attorney Tim Holian.

Special thanks to all the people and businesses who so generously donated to our live and silent auction, especially Renee McManus of Great Seasons Fine Catering, Barb and Kim Danziger, Newtown Limousine, Tom and Chrissy Dullinger, Pepsi Corp, Cruise and Vacation Center of Monroe, Joe and Caryn Golden,  Ray Ruzek, Kris Beckman, Avance Esthetiques, Dr Scott Bialik, Ground Crew Landscaping, Dick McEvoy, Newtown Computer, John Tolson, Leslie Hudson-Tolles, Stop and Save Liquors, Ruth Newquist, Michael and Irene Fitzsimmons, the Larocque Family, the Magic Garden, Michelle Rosenthal, Pam and Pat McLaughlin, Bill Flood, David Gould, Jack Huray, Colbert, Lisi and O’Bryne, Western CT Federal Credit Union and many, many others.

Finally, our gratitude to Newtown Youth Services’ Anita Arnold for all her hard work and dedication, the NHS students who helped work the event and especially to every one who attended to support us. See you next year!
