Grand Opening In Stony Hillâ
Hollandia Welcomes Customers To Its New Facility
Â
As customers strolled through airy, high-ceilinged spaces at the grand opening of Hollandia Gift and Garden last weekend, Hans Reelick stood over a picnic grill, cooking food for his interested guests.
Hansâs wife Sally attended to customers, as did their son Eugene.
The new Hollandia location at 95 Stony Hill Road (Route 6) in Bethel, which is on the Newtown/Bethel town line, is near the original Hollandia Nurseries location at 103 Hawleyville Road in Bethel. Hollandia Gift and Gardenâs co-owners are Eugene Reelick and Ken Kolicz.
The grand opening of Hollandia Gift and Garden coincides with the 40th anniversary of Hollandia Nurseries, which has been owned and operated by the Reelicks since its inception.
The new garden store will operate as an adjunct to the original Hollandia, although the new businessâs focus will not be the extensive greenhouse growing environments and mature surrounding gardens, which are the features of the parent establishment.
Eugene Reelick and Mr Kolicz hope Hollandia Gift and Garden will appeal to people who are seeking all types of gardening supplies, perennials, potted plants, masonry supplies, tools, and garden-related gifts. Christmas items will be sold seasonally.
Hollandia Gift and Garden has sufficient area to display large garden furniture, patio tables and chairs, and outdoor grills that the parent store does not have the space to not accommodate.
The new business opened last fall, and opted to hold its grand opening at the start of spring. The owners remodeled the premises.Â
âIn a way, you could say this is going to be like an expanded Hollandia ââ itâs an offshoot, a transplant, from the original which, of course, can never be duplicated,â Eugene Reelick said when the new location was announced.
âSame great product, second great location, is the way we like to think of this⦠We hope people will stop in, just to see how nice it looks,â said Mr Reelick.
