Free Ukrainian Egg Workshop
Free Ukrainian Egg Workshop
The Ukrainian Cultural Organization of Greater Danbury is sponsoring a demonstration and hands-on workshop whee participants will create traditionally decorated Ukrainian Easter eggs.
The program will be Sunday, April 4, at the home of Olga Paproski, 5 Hattertown Road in Newtown (near Route 302). It will run from 2 to 5 pm.
Participants should bring two white raw unblemished eggs, a soft leaded pencil, two six-inch tall candles, a candle holder and paper towels.
While leading the workshop Mrs Paproski will discuss how the lavishly decorated eggs have come to be such a tradition. Her talk will include a history of the Ukrainian holiday and the way Ukrainians decorate and fill a basket to take to church for blessing on Easter Sunday.
Mrs Paproski will also be offering the traditional Easter bread Paska for purchase. She will talk about the breadâs preparation during the afternoon workshop as well.
