Four Steps To A Stronger Portfolio
Four Steps To A Stronger Portfolio
DANBURY â At the next general meeting of the Danbury Area Computer Society on Tuesday, April 6, at Danbury Hospital, Jeffrey Simpson, vice president of investments at A.G. Edwards, will give a presentation on âFour Steps to a Stronger Portfolio.â
Mr Simpson has been with A.G. Edwards for the past 11 years and in the financial field for 17 years. Following the presentation he welcomes a lively discussion by all participants.
With approximately 2,874 stocks listed on the NYSE, 3,350 on NASDAQ, numerous bonds and in excess of 6,000 mutual funds out there, it is quite easy for the home-based investor to get lost in the forest of possible investments. Each investment brings to the market its own combination of growth, dividends, interest rate risk, or conservatism.
In todayâs economy with low interest rates, many are leaving the passbook savings accounts and Treasury notes and looking at managing some portion of their investments themselves, often by making effective use of information technologies. Much of it can be done by investors interested in doing their own research or comparing various expertâs research by making use of information publicly available via the internet.
The April DACS meeting will be held in the auditorium of Danbury Hospital. The doors open at 6:30 pm casual networking with others who share your interest. At 7 pm the formal program begins with âRandom Accessâ â a question from the floor, answer from the floor session; bring computer-related questions and see if members can provide a solution. After a brief business meeting consisting of announcements such as the plans for the members-only special interest groups, and a brief break, the featured presentation begins about 8 pm.
General meetings are open to the public. Off-street free parking is in the Blue Lot, just walk down the stairs to the entrance to the auditorium. For additional information, check www.dacs.org.
