South Main Crash
Motorist Andrew M. Hernandez, 20, of Bridgeport was driving a 1994 Ford Explorer northbound on South Main Street about 4 pm March 26, when as he rounded a curve near Mathison Floors, he struck a curb, lost control of the sport utility vehicle and struck a tree along the road shoulder, police said. Neither Hernandez, nor three passengers in the Ford, were injured, police said. Police issued Hernandez a written warning for not keeping to the right.
Hawleyville Accident
Police report that motorist Jamie Allison, 19, of 21 Farrell Road was driving a 1998 Dodge Neon southbound on Route 25 near Farrell Road in Hawleyville about 3:30 pm March 24, when after the Dodge slowed down to make a right turn, it was struck from behind by a southbound 1986 Toyota Cressida driven by Mary Braker-Bochette, 36, of Brookfield. There were no injuries. Police issued Braker-Bochette a written warning for failure to drive a safe distance apart.
Garner Incident
State police report an altercation at Garner Correctional Institution between an inmate and a correction officer. State police said they learned of the incident at 12:01 am April 1.
State police said they are investigating the alleged case of assault and threatening by inmate Nathan G. Dull, 28.
Alpha House
State police said they responded to a report of a disorderly juvenile resident at the Alpha House unit of the Daytop substance abuse rehabilitation center in Greenwich House on Third Street at Fairfield Hills about 3:30 pm March 27.
State police said the youth, whose identity is undisclosed because he or she is under 16, became disorderly and resisted staff membersâ efforts at calming.
State police said the youth struggled with them after they arrived and was charged with breach of the peace and interfering with police. The youth is scheduled to appear April 6 in New Haven Superior Court to answer the charges.
I-84 Cut-Off
State police report motorist Kristin Caposella, 16, of 14 Poverty Hollow Road, was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi sedan eastbound on Interstate 84 at the Newtown-Southbury town line and getting off at Exit 13 about 3:40 pm March 29, when an unidentified vehicle, which was also getting off at that exit, cut off the Mitsubishi, causing it to spin out and strike guard cabling. Caposella was not injured, state police said.
Fell Asleep
State police said motorist Thomas H. Francois, 41, of Prospect, who was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound on Interstate 84 east of Exit 9 about 9 pm March 29, fell asleep while driving and was involved in an accident. The Pontiac was a total loss in the crash, state police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Francois to Danbury Hospital for treatment of chest injuries, state police said.

Warrant
Police said they charged Tony Vargas, 31, of Waterbury on April 3 on a warrant at Danbury Superior Court, listing counts of third-degree larceny and interfering with police. Vargas was presented on the charges in court that day, police said.
Willow Brook Lane
Police report a case of vandalism on Willow Brook Lane sometime between midnight and 8 am March 29 in which someone used a blunt object to break brass lampposts. The incident resulted in an estimated $250 in damage.
