Occupation: I am the CEO and founder of an executive coaching and leadership growth consultancy called Soul Trained. I am also a licensed Marital & Family Therapy Associate and run a psychotherapy private practice in Newtown. And I serve as adjunct faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies teaching counseling psychology to graduate students. To learn more, visit soultrained.com and therapy.soulfull.com.

Family: I met Davis, my husband, in 2004 in a sliding doors kind of moment, when we bumped into each other in a gym in London and have been together ever since. We got married in 2007 when same-sex civil unions were legalized in the United Kingdom.

Pets: We have two beautiful Maine Coon cats, Harper and Hemingway.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’re newbies! Davis and I moved to Newtown in January 2022, from San Francisco, California. We moved to the United States from the United Kingdom in 2014, where I am originally from. Davis is originally from the province of Alberta, Canada.

What do you like to do in your free time? I’m currently completing a PhD in Human Sexuality, so with this and my professional roles, free time is very precious to me. If I am not reading a book or geeking out about some psychological concept then you can find me watching repeats of The Voice on YouTube, or settling down on the couch to watch Grey’s Anatomy or A Million Little Things.

What is your favorite book? I haven’t read a fiction book in years! But when I do, it’s likely to be some form of sci-fi or fantasy literature.

What is your favorite travel destination? Hawaii. Specifically Maui.

What is the best part about Newtown? I love how friendly everyone is. Seriously, it’s a marked difference to where we used to live. And, also, a big shout-out to Eunice at Bagel Delight and the team at Marygolds. They have made Davis and me feel welcome from day one.

What organizations are you part of in Newtown? None yet, but I am definitely looking forward to becoming more involved in the town and its communities.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Davis. No word of a lie. My husband taught me what it means to love and be loved.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? Nanny Norah, my mother’s mother. She died when I was in my early 20s. Not only was she hilarious and loved a good drink, but she loved me unconditionally. I’d love to let her know how my life has unfolded since we last saw each other.

Who is your favorite musical artist? Maggie Rogers, Kylie Minogue, Norah Jones, Ben Platt, and Brandi Carlisle are usually on repeat on my playlists. I have eclectic tastes!

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? My Nanny Norah once told me, “You have two ears and one mouth, use them in proportion.” It’s probably what led me to become a therapist.

What is something you cannot live without? Room temperature cheese and a good red wine.

What is your proudest accomplishment? In February I published my first book. It’s called You Can Be Yourself Here: Your pocket guide to creating inclusive workplaces using the psychology of belonging. It quickly became a #1 best seller on Amazon. I gave myself a well-earned pat on the back for that.
