The Adviserstrust.com Knicks  survived a scare from the Hawks to pull out a 27-24 win in the fifth grade boys’ championship game in Newtown Youth Basketball Association action this past weekend.

The defense of the Hawks shut down the high-scoring Knicks as the Hawks took a one-point lead into the last minute of the final round game at Newtown High School.

The Knicks’ defenders forced a couple of turnovers and converted them into two quick baskets to take the lead, and Timmy Davis came up with a late steal to seal the victory.

For the Knicks, Tucker Garrity and Garrett Norberg combined for 15 points. Tim Davis had 3 assists, Jonathan Nahmias had 6 steals, and Paul Samberg grabbed 12 rebounds.

For the Hawks, James Schumacher and Connor Hughes combined for 13 points, while  Harry Lucas chipped in with 3 assists. Chris Venezia led the defense with 4 steals and Ben Nowacki had 7 rebounds.
