Philmore Miller Sondergaard

Former Newtown Resident Worked For D’Addario

Philmore Miller Sondergaard, 83, died at his home in Richmondville, N.Y., March 23. Born May 4, 1928, in Bridgeport, he was the son of Mildred (Miller) and Victor C. Sondergaard.

Mr Sondergaard was educated in the public schools in Easton and Fairfield, and worked on the family farm in Fairfield until it was sold to the Catholic Diocese in 1955, and then on the family farm in Easton until 1963 when he joined D’Addario Industries. He worked at the Danbury and Newtown plants, and was a resident of Newtown until his retirement in 1990, when he moved to Richmondville.

He was a life member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, and a charter member of the Richmondville Historical Society. He was also a charter member of the Schoharie Leatherstocking Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.

He was a friend of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Richmondville.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Rumble) Sondergaard, two siblings, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother, and a brother and sister.

A funeral service took place March 28. Burial was in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
