MIDDLEBURY — A free workshop called “Living and Being Okay with Dying” has been scheduled for April 5 at the Middlebury Public Library, 30 Crest Road, Middlebury, for 6 pm.

According a release, the event is open to people fighting cancer, family members, caregivers, and anyone who has supported someone surviving cancer.

Recently retired Newtown High School photography teacher Mary Ann Snieckus, a member of Bernie Siegel’s Exceptional Cancer Patients Support Group, will facilitate the hands-on workshop using some of her own photography and art therapy work. When given her prognosis, Ms Snieckus broadened her support system and uses her creativity to keep strong in mind, body and spirit, according to the release.

Eventgoers will be encouraged to share artwork, stories, music, and more created to help through the process, and all contributed works will be on view at the library for one month following the event.

Bernie Siegel, MD, author of Love, Medicine & Miracles, and Peace, Love and Healing, and holistic advocate of human transformation during difficult times, will also make an appearance at the event.

Anyone interested in contributing to the Middlebury Public Library exhibit can drop of contributions starting April 3 and during the workshop.

For more information about the event contact the Middlebury Public Library at 203-758-2634.

“Everyone is welcome,” Ms Sniekus said, adding an audience is welcome to enjoy the poetry and the art work people will be sharing.

Ms Sniekus also said it is an honor to have Dr Siegel scheduled to attend the event.
