Labor Dept. CONN-OSHA Division Names New Director
WETHERSFIELD â Kenneth Tucker of Norwich has been named director of the Connecticut Department of Laborâs Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CONN-OSHA).
A graduate of the Norwich Free Academy and an Air Force veteran, Mr Tucker, who has been with the Connecticut Department of Labor since 1986, had been serving as the divisionâs acting director. He was previously an occupational health and safety manager and CONN-OSHA health compliance officer.
In his new position, Mr Tucker is responsible for the enforcement of all health and safety regulations in this state pertaining to public sector workers. He also oversees CONN-OSHAâs training and education programs, all of which are designed to control workplace hazards and prevent work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. Mr Tucker also is responsible for CONN-OSHAâs Statistics Unit and occupational health clinics program.
He has worked extensively with CONN-OSHAâs consultation program for the public and private sector. Mr Tucker has also been involved in helping to certify Connecticut companies who meet the health and safety requirements to qualify for OSHAâs Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation.
Mr Tucker, a district governor for Lions International, is a past president of Montville Mohegan Pequot Lions Club. He is also a past union steward with the Administrative and Residual Union.
