Globetrotters Celebrate Junior Title

The Globetrotters defeated the E-Lemonaders 38-33, in girlsâ action, to win the Junior Division of the Newtown Youth Basketball Association this past weekend.

The Globetrotters prevailed behind a balanced scoring attack and solid defense. Jess Shairer scored 11 points, and Kamdynn Moroney and Christina Moore each scored nine. Claire Beiter chipped in six points and Caroline Caporale rounded out the scoring with three. Hannah Logan and Rachel DâAusilio played great defense to help lead the Globetrotters to victory.

The E-Lemonaders found themselves behind most of the game but mounted a furious comeback to get within one point by the start of the fourth quarter.

Aimee Talbot scored a game-high 12 points for the E-Lemonaders, and Amanda Albanesi and Ashley Lynch chipped in six apiece. Abbie Kohler scored four and Shannon Lynch and Julia Scarangella completed the scoring with three and two, respectively.Â

Hannah Luby, Erin Mingey, and Erin Tressler played outstanding defense, causing numerous turnovers in the pinnacle game.Â

Holly Kocet is pushing a false narrative. The facts simply don't bear out any negative impact to the traffic on Mt Pleasant Road. Saying it does , does not make it true. The road handles in excess of 40,000 trip a day. a couple hundred form Castle Hill is negatable.

Finally, The Time Has Come(And Some Reminders)

Not approving a development that has "checked" all the boxes because the NIMBY mob doesn't like it is wrong.

The town historically has strong collaboration with developers, but the primary obstacle arises from community opposition exerting undue influence on the zoning department. This "NIMBY" pressure often leads to project rejections that exceed the department's actual jurisdiction or authority. Consequently, developers face a limited set of options: either engage in expensive legal battles or leverage the Connecticut Affordable Housing Land Use Appeals Procedure (CGS § 8-30g) as a recourse.

You are correct, Bruce. I know how hard these plans are to put together, but I still believe that we can have more definitive and measurable goals. I know there are a number of units coming online, and the community truly needs them. If only we can move the development of affordable housing to more of a partnership between the community and the developers than the adversarial tug-of-war it seems to be now, that would be good progress.
