Five Men Charged In Sandy Hook Vandalism Incident
After receiving a complaint early on the afternoon of Sunday, March 25, police responded to 32 Alberts Hill Road in Sandy Hook, where they arrested five men who allegedly were vandalizing a deteriorating former private alcohol/drug addiction treatment center.
Police said they received a call about 12:42 pm and went to the now-vacant complex that formerly held The Cornerstone of Eagle Hill. The multiple-building complex on 22 acres closed more than a decade ago.
âUpon arrival, police heard smashing noises coming from the property. Police, with the help of their canine, Baro, located five individuals vandalizing one of the vacant buildings located on the property,â police said in a statement.
After investigating the incident, police arrested the five men that they found on the scene on various criminal charges.
Police said they arrested Garrett OâConnor, 22, of 11 Avalon Way, and John Hartlett, 24, of 5 Webster Place, each on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, and conspiracy.
Police said they arrested Julian Wahlberg, 21, of 11 Shady Rest Boulevard, Christopher Salvatore, 22, of 59 Buttonball Drive, and Steven Orrico, 23, of 7 New Lebbon Road each on charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, conspiracy, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana. Police additionally charged Salvatore with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hartlett, Wahlberg, Salvatore, and Orrico each were released on written promises to appear in court. OâConnor was released on $100 cash bail. All five are scheduled for arraignment on April 10 in Danbury Superior Court.
