Evading
Some time between Thursday, March 4, and Monday, March 8, an unknown vehicle drove off the southbound travel lane of Huntingtown Road and collided with a stone wall in the area of 20 Huntingtown Road.

Wallet Found
A wallet was found at the Newtown dog park on March 7, and turned in at Newtown Police Department.
The wallet is brightly colored with a cartoon design.

Arrested On Warrant
On March 11, at approximately 6:30 am, Newtown police officers made contact with Nicholas J. Colavito, 44, of Bethel, regarding a warrant for his arrest, originating from a complaint made on March 4.
Colavito was taken into custody and transported to the police department without incident.
He processed on one violation of violating a protective order. Colavito was unable to post a court-set $15,000 bond and was issued a same-day Danbury Superior Court date.
Bus vs Honda
A 2019 Ford Micro Bird school bus owned by All-Star Transportation, operated by Brenda M. McNeil, 60, of Bethel, was traveling eastbound on Mile Hill Road, around 9:03 am, Wednesday, March 10. The bus was behind a 2002 Honda CR-V EX operated by Segundo M. Chicaiza, 55, of Newtown.
Chicaiza stopped the Honda on Mile Hill Road at its intersection with Queen Street, intending to turn left onto Queen Street. The bus did not stop, and the front of that vehicle struck the back end of the Honda.
McNeil told Newtown police she did not have enough time to stop to avoid the collision.
The Honda sustained damage to the rear tire mounted outside the back end. The bus sustained damage to the front grille. Neither vehicle was towed.
Medical attention was declined by both drivers and the three minor passengers on the bus.
McNeil was given a verbal warning for following too close resulting in accident.
Following Too Close
A 2019 Hyundai Tucson SE being operated by James P. Anastasia, 65, of Bethel, was traveling eastbound on Sugar Street around 3:57 pm, Thursday, March 11.
A 2007 Chevrolet Express G2500 van operated by Joseph L. Demers, 20, which had been traveling eastbound on Sugar Street in front of the Hyundai, was stopped in traffic.
The Hyundai did not stop, and collided with the rear of the van, causing functional damage to the Chevrolet.
No injuries were reported.
Anastasia was issued a verbal warning for following too close.
Three Arrested
Newtown police on March 12 arrested three Newtown residents — Justin M. Gaydosh, 36; Krystal Loomis, 36; and Alexandra Tassiello, no age given — all regarding a protective order violation.
Gaydosh was charged with violation of a protective order, custodial interference, and risk of injury.
Loomis and Tassiello were both charged with risk of injury to a child.
Police said the three had collaborated on a plan in which Loomis and Tassiello enabled Gaydosh to visit and communicate with the protected person.
Gaydosh was released from custody after posting a $20,000 bond. His court date was set for March 15.
Loomis and Tassiello were both released on written promises to appear, and both were given court dates of March 25.
Scanner Found
A handheld shipping scanner was turned in to the Newtown Police Department on March 16 after being located in the area of the Rochambeau Bridge.

Two Charges
On March 16, at approximately 6:41 pm, Newtown police were contacted by a resident on Deerfield Drive regarding a dispute with a neighbor.
Orlando Soto, 58, of Sandy Hook, was stopped a short time later on Buttonshop Road operating a gray 2001 Ford F150 in connection with the incident. An investigation led to the Soto’s arrest.
He was transported to Newtown Police Department for processing, and then charged with threatening-second degree and breach of peace.
Soto was released on a $3,000 appearance bond and given a March 30 date to appear in Danbury Superior Court.
Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief
Newtown police received multiple reports of a man yelling and causing a disturbance on his front yard in Sandy Hook on Wednesday, March 17. One caller reported they had been driving down the road when a man threw an object at their vehicle, causing damage to it.
Police arrived in the area and identified Mike Vodola, 46, as the suspect. Vodola initially attempted to avoid custody by retreating into his house, but was subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the second degree in connection with the incident.
Vodola was given a court date of March 31, in Danbury Superior Court, for the abovementioned charges. He was released from police custody on a written promise to appear.
Arrested On Two Charges
On Saturday, March 20, Austin Dasilva, 22, of Sandy Hook, turned himself in to police after learning about an active arrest warrant following an incident that occurred on August 6, 2020.
Dasilva was charged with violation of driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.
He was released on a written promise to appear in court on March 30.
Motorcycle Crash
Newtown police report that Alexander Davis, 20, of Monroe, was operating a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R100 sport-style motorcycle eastbound on Sugar Street around 7:58 pm, Sunday, March 21.
Davis failed to negotiate a left turn in the roadway in the area of Drummers Lane. The Suzuki left the roadway and struck a utility pole, causing the vehicle to split in half.
Davis was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest approximately 100 feet from the impact site.
The accident is under investigation.
