Jean Douglas (Johnston) Brady, 88, of Newtown, died March 27 at St Joseph's Manor in Trumbull. She was born on March 13, 1929, daughter of the late Annie and James Johnston.

She grew up in Greenwich and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1947. She then went on to receive her RN degree through the Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing; her studies taking her to UConn in New London, Fairfield Hills in Newtown, and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Mrs Brady worked as a nurse in Stamford at St Joseph's Hospital, the VNA, and for the State of Connecticut before retiring in 1994.

She was baptized in the Greenwich Presbyterian Church and remained a Presbyterian until her later years when she became a member of the Stepney Baptist Church in Monroe. She loved to attend craft shows and Scottish festivals; loved her home in Newtown with her husband, dogs, and cats; and enjoyed spending her quiet moments with a good book.

Her children and their spouses, Deborah and William Carlson, Diane Brady, and Richard K. and Amy Brady; her grandchildren and their spouses, Antone and Emily Carvalho, Jenifer and Adrien Bindi, Lauren and Steven Pingree, William Brady, and Rebekah Brad,y survive her. Her husband Richard P. Brady predeceased her.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Monday, April 3, after 10 am, prior to a short service at the funeral home at 11 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Route 25, Newtown.
