Get Together, Get Organized, Get The Facts
Get Together, Get Organized,
Get The Facts
To the Editor,
Most families I know are very busy and try hard to keep up with town issues, and we trust that our elected officials are providing us with accurate information and are working together in the best interest of the town. The high school expansion is a complex issue, between trying to understand the Bothwell or Prowda projections and wondering what numbers were used to figure out the operating costs (evidently costs that werenât operating costs got figured into the mix to bring up the originally stated $600,000 figure to over $2 million), most of our heads are spinning.
As a taxpayer who has a vested interest in the expedient decision of the high school expansion, this is what I want from the finance board, Board of Education, Legislative Council, superintendent and selectmen. Get together, get organized, get the facts and get this high school expansion going so you can present it on the ballot this April! If you canât, I canât trust the Newtown town government to bring any kind of meaningful change to this town, now or in the future. I, and Iâm sure many others, may feel this town is no longer in our best interest and moving out may become a trend.
