Nominations Sought For Fairfield County Hero Award
BRIDGEPORT â Bridgeport Hospital is seeking nominations for its 2003 Fairfield County Hero Award, which recognizes police officers, firefighters, and ambulance personnel for bravery and outstanding service in the line of duty.
Inspired by the heroic actions of emergency services personnel on September 11, 2001, Bridgeport Hospital, as Fairfield Countyâs only Level One (highest level) Trauma Center, established the Fairfield County Hero Award in 2002.
Last August, joined by Congressman Christopher Shays, municipal officials, police chiefs, fire chiefs, and ambulance company executives, the hospital presented the first Fairfield County Hero Award to Easton Police Officers Leonard Forchione and Richard Spivack and Easton Volunteer Firefighter Sherman Turner for their heroic rescue of a town resident during a house fire.
The hospital decided that it would present the award annually during National Trauma Awareness Month in May. To request a nomination form, call the Bridgeport Hospital Marketing Department at 203-384-3533. Nominations are due by April 11. The 2003 Fairfield County Hero Award Presentation Ceremony is scheduled for 11 am Monday, May 19, in the main lobby of Bridgeport Hospital.
