Nine Mailboxes
Police said that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Ryan Rende, 17, of Brookfield turned himself over to them on March 20 and was charged with nine counts of third degree criminal mischief and one count of reckless driving.
The charges stem from an incident January 25 on Old Bethel Road, involving mailbox vandalism, police said. Police released Rende on a promise to appear April 3 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges. Rende is the second youth that police charged in the mailbox case.
On March 10, Daniel Lombardo, 16, of Brookfield turned himself over to police and was charged with nine counts of third degree criminal mischief.
Police said that Lombardo and Rende damaged or destroyed nine mailboxes along Old Bethel Road by striking the mailboxes with a baseball bat from a motor vehicle. Police investigated a witnessâs account of the incident. Lombardo was scheduled to appear in court March 25.
Stone Wall Crash
Police said that during heavy fog at about 3:30 am on March 22, motorist Daniel C. Garvin, 24, of 76 Birch Hill Road, who was driving a 1992 Honda Accord, was traveling westward on Great Hill Road. Garvin did not stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Great Hill Road and Taunton Hill Road and drove into a stone wall, damaging a ten-foot-long section of the wall, police said. Garvin was not injured in the crash, police said.
Police issued Garvin an infraction ticket on a charge of disobeying a stop sign.
Appleblossom Collision
A 2000 Dodge Ram commercial van driven by Christina Maturi, 32, of 110 South Main Street was stopped on Appleblossom Lane at about 1 pm March 21, while motorist Carmen Ancunta-Budai, 25, of 11 Appleblossom Lane was driving a 1993 Mercury Sable eastward there, police report.
The Dodge then backed up and collided with the Mercury, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Maturi a written warning for unsafe backing.
I-84 DUI
State police report that motorist Michael Klimaszewski, 31, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2001 Saturn eastward on Interstate 84 near Exit 11 at about 11 pm March 23, was traveling in the left lane of three lanes and struck a highway barrier. Klimaszewski was not injured, state police said.
State police said that on investigating the accident, they charged Klimaszewski with driving under the influence and also with a moving violation. After posting a bond, state police released Klimaszewski for an April 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Four Vehicles
A four-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred on westbound Church Hill Road, near St Rose Church, at about 10:30 am March 22.
Police report that a 1994 Ford E-350 XLT passenger van, owned by the First Korean Presbyterian Church of Manchester and driven by Seongsoo Nam, 36, of Manchester, was stopped for a traffic control officer on Church Hill Road. The vehicle carried 12 passengers.
A 1998 Mazda MPV, driven by Suk H. Han, 57, of Glastonbury, was slowing down behind the passenger van, police said.
A 1994 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Bill Shier, 39, of 13 Meadow Road, was slowing down behind the Mazda, police said.
 A 2000 Ford Expedition sport-utility vehicle, driven by Rosaria Carozza, 35, of 43 Yogananda Street, failed to slow down or stop, and struck the rear end of the Ford pickup truck, pushing that vehicle into the rear end of the Mazda, pushing the Mazda into the rear end of the Ford XLT passenger van, police said.
Police said Bill Shier and his passenger, William Shier, 12, of Greenwich, were transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked for unknown injuries.
Police issued Carozza an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Rear-Ender
Motorist Lindsay Mastroianni, 17, of 6 Drummerâs Lane, who was driving a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastward on Church Hill Road at about 7:25 pm March 15, stopped at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Commerce Road to allow an ambulance, which had its lights and siren running, to enter the intersection from Commerce Road, police said.
Eastbound motorist Alexis Barry, 16, of 9 Washbrook Road, who was driving a 1996 Hyundai Accent, then drove into the rear end of the Jeep, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Barry a written warning for following too closely.
Church Hill Collision
Motorist Alesandra Fischetti, 41, of Monroe, who was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry at about 2:05 pm March 19, pulled out of a driveway at 111 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center and collided with eastward motorist Wade Wallace, 32, of Bethel, who was driving a 1995 Saturn SL-2, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Fischetti a written warning for failure to grant the right of way from a private driveway.

Warrant
New Milford police informed Newtown police about 2 am March 25 that they were holding Miriam Renda, 40, of New Milford, for whom Newtown police held an arrest warrant in connection with a past incident.
Newtown police went to New Milford and charged Renda with second-degree failure to appear in court and second-degree harassment. Newtown police held Renda on bond for an appearance later that day in Danbury Superior Court.
Several Charges
Police report they stopped motorist Carrie N. Medici, 25, of Waterbury for driving 50 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone on Wasserman Way about 3:20 pm March 25.
On investigating, police charged Medici with traveling too fast, driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they found less than three ounces of marijuana in the vehicle Medici was driving.
After posting a bond, police released Medici for an April 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Moving Violations
Police said they stopped motorist Judith Roller, 38, of Winsted on March 25, and after investigating, charged her with traveling too fast and driving while under suspension. Police released Roller for an April 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
