Dr Pezzimenti To Receive American

Cancer Society’s Angel Award

 DANBURY –– The American Cancer Society announced that Dr John Pezzimenti of Danbury Hospital will be the recipient of the 2003 Spring Charity Ball Angel Award.

The Angel Award is presented to someone whose allegiance to the fight against cancer has been constant, sincere, and has helped to uphold the values and the mission of the American Cancer Society.

 Dr Pezzimenti is the director of cancer medicine at the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, where he also serves as chief of hematology/oncology in the Department of Medicine. Dr Pezzimenti practices oncology and hematology with the Danbury office of Physician Services, PC. He is the chairman of the Blood Bank Committee and the Cancer Committee at Danbury Hospital.

Dr Pezzimenti is board certified in oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. He was appointed to the medical staff at Danbury Hospital in 1972. A clinical associate professor of medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, he earned his medical degree and completed residency training at Creighton University in Nebraska. His clinical interests include lymphoma, leukemia, breast and prostate cancers, and high-dose chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation.

 The American Cancer Society’s 11th annual Spring Charity Ball will begin at 7 pm on Saturday, April 5, at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury. Tickets are $350 per couple and the event will include dinner, dancing, a silent auction, and the recognition of both the Angel Award recipient and the Spring Charity Ball honoree. Last year’s Spring Charity Ball raised more than $65,000 for the American Cancer Society’s programs of service, education, advocacy, and research.
