Celebrate Women Offers Spring Retreat
FARMINGTON â Celebrate Women, a new womenâs health initiative of the University of Connecticut Health Center, is hosting a retreat in April to help women explore the relationship between their health, mind, and spirit.
The retreat will start at 4:30 pm on Friday, April 11, and run through the afternoon of Saturday, April 12, at the Wisdom House retreat center in Litchfield. Meals and accommodations are included in the registration fee.
During the retreat, women will learn about a variety of health and wellness issues including strategies to interpret controversies in womenâs health care; the principles and benefits of integrative medicine; practical skills for navigating the health care system; the practice of Feng Shui; and effective communications skills.
âThis special weekend event promises to be a restful, reflective, and educational time for women. We are urging women to invite their mothers, daughters, aunts, best friends, or any woman who is significant in their life to join this unique experience,â said Diane Bennett, director of Celebrate Women.
Sheila Wilner, an expert in alternative medicine and aging, will deliver a keynote address on Friday evening. Ms Wilner, who is the director of a health care facility for seniors in Westchester County, N.Y., will share her âguidelines to healthy livingâ in a presentation called âThe Ten Steps to Staying Young and Well-thy.â
Cost for the retreat is $125 for Celebrate Women members and $135 for nonmembers for shared space (two or three people per room).
