Beatrice Victoria Kostka

Beatrice Victoria (Scott) Kostka, 90, of Oxford, died March 22 at Griffin Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Henry Stanley Kostka.

Mrs Kostka was born in East Weymouth, Mass., on June 17, 1912, daughter of the late Rob and Edith (Harris) Scott.

She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Bonnie Kostka of Newtown; a son, Ron Kostka of Oxford; and a daughter, Edith Kostka of Oxford. She was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.

She moved to Oxford as a child and attended Oxford schools. She lived the remainder of her life in Oxford where she was a devoted wife and mother. A vibrant, happy homemaker, Mrs Kostka loved people and always worked where she could be near the company of pleasant co-workers. In her youth, she worked at the Old Hundred Restaurant in Southbury. During the war years, she was a crane operator at Farrel Birmingham in Ansonia, where she met her future husband. In later years, she drove a school minibus for the George Kuss Bus Company.

A memorial service in celebration of her life was held on March 27 at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Route 67), Seymour, with the Rev Richard G. M. Chambers, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church of Seymour, officiating, followed by burial in St Augustine Cemetery, Seymour.
