QPR Training Noted
To the Editor:
Per 2023 State data, there were 353 deaths by suicide in Connecticut. The age groups with the most deaths were 55-59 and 60-64. But we all know death by suicide affects all ages.
We believe that education empowers all people to make a positive difference in the life of someone you may know. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. We cannot overemphasize the need for early recognition of suicide warning signs.
The Newtown Prevention Partnership, Newtown Suicide Prevention Initiative and the Rotary Club of Newtown are sponsoring a free QPR training on Wednesday, April 9 at 6 pm at Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street. You will learn to: recognize the signs of suicide, know how to offer help, and know how to get help and transform a life.
Registration is required. Visit QUESTION, PERSUADE, REFER (QPR) TRAINING Tickets, Wed, Apr 9, 2025 at 6 pm | Eventbrite (or go to Eventbrite.com and search for Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training) to register. Space is limited to 35 attendees.
Thank you for your interest in helping to prevent suicide.
