Robert DeCarlo
Robert Michael "Bob" DeCarlo, 51, of Sandy Hook, beloved husband of Wendy (Johnson) DeCarlo, died March 20. Born September 13, 1966, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Theresa (Luberto) and John DeCarlo.
Mr DeCarlo was a graduate of J.M. Wright Technical High School in 1984 and graduated from UConn with a BS in mechanical engineering. He was Past Master for the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Union Lodge #5, Stamford, in 2000. In 2012, he was also a Past Potentate and a member of the Motor Patrol of Pyramid Shriners #9, Stratford, for many years.
He loved his career as a mechanical engineer and loved to talk about all the projects he designed over the years. His favorite pastimes included photography, hiking, and camping to name a few; but his most cherished times were spent with family and friends. Most of all, he loved playing, building airplanes, and painting with his best buddy Zackary. Mr DeCarlo was known as a kind man who was very giving. He was always there to help whenever someone was in need, and he never had to be asked. His loved ones say his laughter and humor were contagious and that his smile lit up the room. He was a kind, generous, and funny soul who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife of nearly ten years, his daughter, Jenifer Burke; grandson, Zackary; brother, John and wife Susan of Trumbull; sister, Jean Briese and husband Don of Arizona; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends survive him.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, March 27, from 4 to 8 pm, at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday, March 28, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, followed by a burial at Resurrection Cemetery, 208 South Main Street, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104; as well as to the American Liver Foundation of Connecticut, 127 Washington Avenue #9, North Haven CT 06473.
